Strengthening Healthcare Through Innovation: Expanding E-Heza in Somalia

In 2024, TIP Global Health expanded E-Heza Data Solutions to Somalia, advancing our goal of improving health outcomes for 1.5 million people across three countries by 2026. Partnering with the Banadir Primary Health Care Consortium (BPHCC), we are introducing digital health solutions to strengthen healthcare delivery and expand access to primary care. This milestone reflects our commitment to building sustainable healthcare systems that prioritize equity, transform lives, and create a foundation for lasting impact.

Somalia faces some of the most urgent maternal and child health challenges in the world. Maternal mortality rates remain among the highest globally, with significant gaps in antenatal care and immunization coverage. Today, only 8% of women engage in antenatal care, and childhood immunization rates remain below 42%. These inequities demand innovative, scalable solutions.

Through our E-Heza digital health platform, we are tackling these challenges by enabling real-time data collection and management to strengthen healthcare delivery. Together with BPHCC, our shared goals are ambitious: to increase antenatal care engagement by 85% and improve immunization rates by 10% by 2025. Earlier this year, we formalized this collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Somalia, signaling a strong commitment to health equity and sustainable impact.

Since then, our teams have worked closely on collaborative planning sessions and strategic refinement, laying the groundwork for on-the-ground implementation. Importantly, E-Heza has now been fully translated into Somali, ensuring accessibility for frontline healthcare workers and communities alike. This localization represents a critical step in aligning technology with cultural context, enabling smoother adoption and greater impact.

Our expansion into Somalia marks more than the introduction of digital health tools, it is a bold step toward building a sustainable, resilient healthcare system that prioritizes underserved communities, reduces maternal and child mortality, and creates lasting change.

At TIP Global Health, we believe that the future of health equity in East Africa is rooted in partnership, innovation, and hope. By bringing E-Heza to Somalia, we are moving closer to a world where every woman and child has access to the care they deserve.
